DCOM= Disney Channel Original Movie. I speak as a fan fully aware that the movies don't have to be all deep, in-depth, and artistic masterpieces. Generally known for their feel-good style, they're just plain Family carefree fun.
Read it and Weep was just plain torture. No uniqueness coupled with ample materialistic worry made this movie lose its flow and seem like a noise. Basically, it's all about "what will everyone think of me?" but with a tacky twist.
The story is similar to Harriet the Spy, but the latter has a more genuine real vibe to it. A girl's personal writing (including what she wrote about other people) gets accidentally published and to the world she's a star, but to her own peers, she's the villain. The actress was cute, but overall the movie was dull.
The DCOMs for the past few years have been disappointing. If you want some of the better ones, go for the Halloweentown series (up until 3, not 4), Phantom of the Megaplex, The Color of Friendship, Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire, Alley Cats Strike!,... basically anything before Pixel Perfect.
