Labor of love

One author's unfinished work taken up after his passing by another, affectionately. Thus, a continuity of spirit proceeds from the very subject, Rayburn, who was a virtuous man. That spirit is contagious--one grows fond of the book.

A chapter in Robert Caro's first volume on Lyndon Johnson, Path to Power, introduces readers to Sam Rayburn, a man about whom one immediately wants to learn more.

His life story is presented in clear prose without superfluities. The style befits the subject. The story inspires.
