In 1975, conductor Jean Martinon recorded all the standard orchestral works of Ravel with the Orchestre de Paris for French EMI on five LPs. Thirty years later, EMI reissued most but by no means all of Martinon's Ravel on this two-disc set. Left out were all the works for soloists and orchestra -- both piano concertos with Aldo Ciccolini and the Tzigane with Itzhak Perlman -- plus the big ballet Daphnis et Chloë.
