A Great "Find"
For those familiar with Lockridge's work only via the MGM widescreen spectacular with Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift, and Eva-Marie Saint, reading this BIG engrossing novel will come as quite a surprise. Much darker and more complex than any movie could have been, this is a much more sophisticated Civil War novel than GWTW.
In addition, the collectors-style edition which ALIBRIS was able to provide is a much better choice than the paperback version, which--if available at all--is probably printed on paper that by now is yellowed and fragile.
An excellent buy!
