Overall, this was a very unusual story that kept my interest with quirky characters and twisting plot line, but I found the ending a let down. It never did quite explain one of the central character's motivation for a major action.

not worth it
I did not think this was a good book (but 2 friends liked it). I thought the main character was very predictable emotionally and way too self absorbed. It made the other characters seem undeveloped and uninteresting. I couldn't connect to either the story line or the characters. The ending made no sense at all. It seemed like a weak attempt at magical realism but it failed for me. I have to admit though, magical realism is not my thing. I also thought the "hardships" endured by the main character were either forced or totally unrealistic. She's abused by her father and I didn't care at all. Not real. I just couldn't take the book seriously. There's a lot better fiction out there - don't waste your time.
