Pulp E-Mails is a remarkably unique and one-of-a-kind work of nonfiction which bursts through the defining boundaries of genre, serving the reader a raw and unfiltered scope into various stages of the author's life. What makes this book stand out above all else is that no one ever set out to write this book, or any book for that matter. The author, Al, who was a grandfather, university professor, medical marijuana grower, volunteer umpire, Army veteran, Teamster, avid outdoorsman & award-winning marksman began exchanging emails with his grandson who ultimately kept every single one of them. Over ten years later those same emails were literally copied & pasted into a book template and published, raw and unedited. Hence the title, Pulp E-Mails. A family heirloom? Yes. However, if you are beginning to think this is just another book of fun or silly family-specific stories or memories from grandpa, stop there. Having been abandoned at an early age, drafted on his wedding day and living a life of unpredictability, Al held being a father to his three daughters and even some of his grandchildren in the highest regard. His flamboyantly foul mouth, wicked sense of humor and bold lifestyle often earned him the label, 'inappropriate' in the very least. He lived with trauma and demons from the abuse he endured as child and rarely, if ever, was dealt a decent hand of luck. Yet, he lived with an immeasurable passion and love for his family. There really is no way to accurately describe just how funny he was or how absolutely, amazing - of a story teller he was. As he succumbed to cancer, he asked his grandson to find a way to tell his stories - even the bad ones, so that those who come next can learn from both the good and the bad - "the same way historians should" he said.Pulp E-Mails is a glimpse into the the mind of an abuse survivor, devoted father, husband and best friend to many who's world view may never be replicated.
