The attraction will be even stronger inasmuch as the album offers the chance to hear some new singers; they are of various ages, but most might be described as rising. There is not an Italian in the bunch, but there are Americans, an Indian, a South African, and more (the credits list an Italian language coach, but native speakers must judge her success). They work well as an ensemble, and there are some fine, powerful singers, including the appropriately named Melody Moore as Giorgetta and baritone Lester Lynch as the deceived Michele in this grim verismo...
