The writing demonstrates skilled scholarship, but his ordinary words give access to broader understanding of the psalms. The author's translations make them sound new but not strange, poetic and not awkward.
Each psalm is a chapter and begins with the author's translation of the particular psalm. Then a detailed interpretation follows, explicated from the language of the psalm; he shows the relation of one phrase to another within the psalm or with like phrases from other psalms. Last is a heading, "Theological implications", that sets the psalm in its place in our understanding of Yhwh.
