This book you are holding now and about to read is an original work of a devout Knight of the Church and a prayerful Catholic: Noble D.D.O. Eraga (KSJI). This unique work constitutes a basic, interesting and touching masterpiece on prayer, meditation and the importance of meditation. This book does not only teach people how to pray and use the psalms, the Word of God, to meditate, it elicits and elucidates the need for constant prayer. 1n this work, the author appeals to the readers' consciences and thus directs them to Christ who is prayer personified. In th1s work, Noble D.D.O. Eraga took time to provide a unique, practical and unconventional way of knowing and approaching God in prayers and meditation. In broad strokes and laced Ideas, the author helps the reader systematically through a vast repertoire of Biblical passages. In simple literary writing style, he is able to bring forth a prayer for easier comprehension. Come to think of it: Is it not true that in our busy world of today of noise and restlessness, using the word of God to pray and meditate has become increasingly difficult? This noble and salutary practice has come under attack in recent Limes. Some critics and writers hold tenaciously and unrepentantly that instead of meditating on the word of God, praying always, it would have been better to go out there, be active in the world and work, live an honest and corruption-free life based on love. According to them, meditation does not bake bread. In this book, the author strikes a meaningful and desired balance. He holds that our work of love and work for ourselves and our neighbors, our being active in the world full of noise and distraction would be barren and empty without mediation and prayer. Prayerful meditation is key. Without conscious and prayerful meditation using the word of God, all our actions would simply fall flat, sterile, lacking the necessary and vital fuel to keep them going in the right direction. Needless to emphasize that, that fuel, that powerhouse is prayerful meditation using the Word of God. Daily prayerful meditation on the Word of God can therefore been seen as exalted and noble. Only in the sacrament of prayer and meditation, can one understand and appreciate the true meaning of love of God and love of man. Our Lord and Master, Jesus often spent time in prayers and meditation. Scriptures tell us clearly that he prayed on the mountain, he prayed with his disciples, he spent a lot of private time in profound meditation, he taught his disciples not only how to pray but also how to go to a lonely quiet place to do some meditation. In this work, the author introduces us to meditation and usage of scriptures as a tool of prayer. No doubt, this is a good form and method of meditative prayer. His deliberate literary style is an attempt to highlight the Importance of using the psalms and in fact the Word of God in our world of today. The work focuses not only on the art and practice of prayer, but also a meditative usage of the Word of God. Undoubtedly, Catholics and non-Catholics will benefit immensely from this book and the practical orientation and spirituality contained in it. They will surely gain a better insight and deeper appreciation into the beauty of prayer, meditation and usage of the Word of God thereby becoming holier. I congratulate the author, Noble D.O.O. Eraga for this timely and much needed work. Consequently, I strongly recommend this book to individuals or groups, in parts or as whole for meditation, spiritual growth, self-development and education. May this book find a space in our homes and lives.
