Anything by Raffel
Anything by Burton Raffel is worth reading: his translations of Beowulf (interesting to compare it with Heaney's), Greek lyrics, Don Quijote, etc.; and his books on translating poetry and prose are thought provoking if you are at all interested in language, poetry, prose or translation! One of my daughters is a professional translator in Europe, and I've bought several for her; she values them.
