Shell somewhat triangular, inequilateral; umbones flat, recurved, furrowed; furrows irregular, very wide. The broad furrows on the umbones of this shell distinguish it from the other species. The furrows vary in number, and sometimes almost cover the valves; but this is rare. The sudden curvature of the umbones gives the buccal slope a gibbous outline, and this character is preserved in all the varieties. Plate XX. Fig. 1, represents a common variety.
