Platinum Ten, Every Mother's Son, follows the adventures of an M16 Agent, Commander Guy Fleming RN Rtd, who is deployed to Camp Leatherneck to investigate financial issues bothering the British Prime Minister. He is side tracked by several concerns surrounding a young British Lieutenant, whose worse sin is falling for an American Soldier, Alice Holford, her beauty causes jealousy and threatens all their lives. Then there are further disturbing troubles facing the young interpreter Ramin and the cruel treatment of his promised Bride, Wasima. The Agent finds himself travelling the length of Helmand seeking the truth and witnessing the complexities caused by and to both pairs of lovers. Following several serious military problems, Guy Williams is flown home seriously injured. initially Alice's parents oppose the marriage, but it is left to Alice's parents to provide the means whereby Alice's determination to marry her injured sweetheart opens the way for help to come to the rescue of the Afghan couple. The story illustrates the wonders of Camp Bastion's Hospital and the growing dangers facing ISAF soldiers after 2007, when the Taliban stepped up their campaign. The 5 Platoon of Fusiliers is symbolic of all Foot soldiers and the dangers they faced during this period. As a novel it is entirely ficticious, yet it reflects life in both Camp Bastion and Camp Leatherneck and was inspired by the hours of u.tube presentations available, most notably those from Helmet cams worn by USA troops, and the named media agents liste din the book. It is the author's belief that life on those camps should never be forgotten and neither should the immediency of media coverage and the effect it had upon our soldiers. This book should stand to one day help discuss the matter of soldiers and the stress that can affect their emotions when deployed. It is a romantic military story that does not duck the issues facing the foot soldier.
