It is however this absurdity which has always. Opposed the progress 05 medicine, which rejected for thirty years the discovery of the circulation of the blood, which made the Parliament condemn tar tar emetic, and which long denied the feb tifuge virtue of cinchona; which at this mo ment declaims against the utility of physio logical experiments and the rational and restricted application of chemistry to medi cine, and would even bring as back to the treatment ofdiseases'by amulets, talismans, and magic words, for' many diseases might be cured as well by these ridiculous means, as by some others now in favour.
