It's a reference book. It's a good book it has excellent illustrations and it's easy to read. Since 5th edition gene mosca made it better. If you're a trekie you REALLY preffer "Six Ideas That Shaped Physics" from "Thomas A Moore" (I do) and if you like simulations and and a more interactive way to learn you might preffer "Matter and Interactions II: Electric and Magnetic Interactions" from "Ruth and Chabay".
