Seller's Description:
Very Good in Very Good jacket. Ownership signature of Carl G. Hempel, who is included in the text! First edition, 1963, hardcover with black cloth boards in dust jacket, octavo, 403pp., not illustrated. Book VG with mild wear to spine ends and corners, rubbing, binding tight, Hempel's signature and notes to front flyleaf, a few pages underlined by Hempel in pencil, otherwise text clean. DJ VG with moderate rubbing, edgewear and toning, now in archival mylar wrap. Hempel was a German writer and philosopher. He was a major figure in logical empiricism, a 20th-century movement in the philosophy of science. He is especially well known for his articulation of the deductive-nomological model of scientific explanation, which was considered the "standard model" of scientific explanation during the 1950s and 1960s. He is also known for the raven paradox (also known as "Hempel's paradox").
