The authors seek to explain - programmatically and in other ways - how the potential of creative, fundamental theoretical and empirical work in the context of nursing science can only be fully exploited through communication with other academic disciplines. The contributions - from the fields of philosophy, gerontology, musicology, psychology, theology, nursing history and literary history - show what a storehouse of knowledge and inspiration can be tapped through communication with related discipines, and offer a sample of how nursing research can be enriched by integrating theoretical elements from other disciplines.
