Amazing! There were so many copies available at my local bookstore that I had to wonder: What's so good about this book? When I read the synopsis on the back, I had to admit, I was unimpressed. But I decided to risk it anyway.
It was definitely worth it!
The story is rather cliche but the character interactions are priceless and so much fun. The author really did her research on how teenagers speak since the dialogue is rather authentic, yet at the same time without taking away from the real emotion behind those clumsy words that teens use to express themselves.
Brittany is the typical self-absorbed teen without being annoying about it. There's many good qualities about her that endear you to her character, thus making her flaws so much more bearable as she struggles with her parents' problems and her own separation anxiety from her older sister.
Alex is a gang member who tries his best not to feel too sorry for himself about his own terrible situation. Sometimes he's so stereotypically and obnoxiously male it's both painful and funny to watch as Brittany takes him down a notch throughout the book.
Very heartwarming and adorable. I laughed so much reading this book and just could not put it down. Wonderful!
