Den Ausgangspunkt bildet eine prazise biographische Einordnung des Heidenapostels in das Judentum der hellenistisch-romischen Zeit. Sie wirkt sich in der Bedeutung der Tora fur sein Leben und Wirken aus. Bestimmend fur seinen Lebensgang wie fur die Theologie, die sich in seinen Briefen niederschlagt, wurde seine Begegnung mit dem auferstandenen Christus und der Auftrag, das Christus-Evangelium den Heidenvolkern zu verkunden.
