You have exaggerated and denigrated a whole group for no good reason. I can relate tales of impaired physicians one on one. I have seen plenty of incompetent doctors. As far as training, unlike doctors that do not start clinicals until they are in med school, nurses start with 2-3 years of clinical before they graduate from college. Then there is a 2-year practice requirement and then you start rigorous clinical again for at least another 2-3 years. I can assure you that as an NP, I would never have suggested doing a rectal exam on a patient in the hallway when they were suffering from hydronephrosis. It is a shame that when health care is in such crisis that you chose to write a book this divisive.
