It might be objected that three CDs are a lot for such a project, aimed at least in part at listeners new to the artist involved. However, this just shows why Jaroussky has been at the top of the countertenor heap for so long: his genius resides largely in how many different things he can do well. He's hard to beat in muscular castrato arias from Handel like "Furibondo spira il vento," from Partenope, HWV 27. Yet looking at Jaroussky's output as a whole, one thing that stands out is the presence of arias from the next stage of opera, less athletic and more melodic.
