Comes across as a travel guide, but with all the funny Bantock pictures &/or obscure and odd references, it is hard to tell what is real & what is tongue-in-cheek. If I took this guide to Paris with me, would I have a mysterious & wonderful time, as is inferred, or would I be hopelessly lost? If the humor and ambiguity are what makes it the adventure it is supposed to be, you can be sure that the next time I go to Paris, I will certainly take this book along!

Ah, Paris
Whether you're heading to Paris, dreaming of Paris or you just love the beautiful and the odd, this is the book for you. Any old guide book can tell you which hotels offer a turn-down service; how many have the foresight to mention if you'll find a codfish on your pillow after checking in? Frommer's rates restaurant, tells you how close they are to your hotel, which is all well and good, but they make no mention of how discreet the waitstaff is--in case of a tryst? That seems to be a gross oversight. This pocket size book will keep you in giggles--and Bantock's art alone would be reason enough to add this to your library.
