Cecilia has been told since she was a child that she was royalty. With the duty a becoming the princess of Cortona, she studies daily on everything a princess should know before she is able to take the throne. The thing is, a girl named Desmia already is the princess. What Desmia doesn't know that Cecilia does is that she [Cecilia] is the true princess while Desmia is just a filling in for Cecilia so if any of the enemies come back that killed Cecilia's parents, they will get Desmia instead.
When Cecilia is attacked at her ?peasant home? where she lives with her Nanny Gratine and best friend Harper, she decides to journey to Cortona to take the throne back, feeling it's less safe to stay at the house. When she gets to Cortona she realizes there may be more to the story then what she was told, and there may be a hidden monarchy under wraps.
Palace of Mirrors is a great mystery book for teens and young adults, as so for adults who love a good book. If you have read Haddix's earlier novel Just Ella, this book continues the story and still follows the war between Cortona and neighboring kingdom Fridesia. I highly recommend this book to anyone, and I hope you enjoy the read.
