The main emphasis is put on presumed or truly "nonpolitically" motivated violations of norms or laws as well as on how such crimes were prevented and punished. German description: Die Beschaftigung mit Ordnung und Sicherheit sowie abweichendem Verhalten und Kriminalitat ist fur die Analyse staatssozialistischer Gesellschaften in mehrfacher Hinsicht Gewinn bringend: Staatliche und gesellschaftliche Vorstellungen von Moral und Gesetzestreue konnen dabei ebenso diskutiert werden wie die Grenzen der Toleranz gegenuber Normverletzungen. Zudem lassen sich Hinweise auf das Mass an gesellschaftlicher Stabilitat der Regime gewinnen.
