This version of the book was MUCH cheaper than the hard back. Couple of points about it though to keep in mind if you plan to use it for a course you are taking. 1. NOT exactly the same as the U.S. Edition: 1a. Every site I went to claimed this book was exactly the same as the U.S. edition and it's NOT. There are specific cases that were assigned reading and some of them are completely different because they use companies that would be more familiar to those in foreign countries as opposed to recognizable U.S. firms. So, I had to rely on classmates a lot of times to ge the correct case. 1b. Wherever there are discussions about monetary values / costs, Rs are used (I think that's for rupees) instead of $. 1c. Readings for class were often given by page number and this edition had different page numbers. 2. DVD doesn't work too well for me. 2a. I don't know if they make computers differently oversees or what, but the DVD that's included hardly ever works. It takes almost 10 minutes just for Windows to be able to launch the CD - even to just explore the contents. So, it has been virtually unusable for me. Maybe I just got a dud??? 3. If you like color... 3a. don't buy this book. It is completely in black and white and on certain graphs/illustrations, you can't even tell what the symbol or picture is because the black/white/gray all end up blending together. I had to consult the 10th edition of the book which I had on-hand to really see some of the illustrations. 4. The content of the book is okay. 4a. A lot of the theories & concepts are okay. The book gets way too technical for me, with a formula and graph/chart for EVERYTHING under the sun. It's so technical that I wonder how practical all of this is in the "real world". By the time I finish graphing and charting an operations plan, it would be 5 years too late. **** Can't the Universities find a better text to teach Operations from? **** And why does everyone claim that this book is exactly like the U.S. edition when it isn't?
