SIGNED and inscribed 'Pour Allison, notre fille americaine preferee by author Stephane Vigand (under the names of both authors) on the title page. 1st edition, 1st printing, complete numberline. Sewn binding. Cloth over boards. 211 p. Audience: General/trade. Dust jacket has rubbing and faint edgewear. Book has shelfwear to the bottoms of the boards. The late Philippe Vigand was a French writer ('Légume vert'; 'Promenades immobiles') and publishing executive who suffered from locked-in syndrome, wherein all voluntary muscles except the eyes are paralyzed, while the patient remains completely aware. Philippe was able to communicate with his wife, Stephane, by means of eye movements. Half of the book is written by Philippe using this technique, describing his experiences; the other half by Stephane, detailing her challenges and triumphs. Rare signed. Where possible, all books come with dust jacket in a clear protective plastic sleeve, sealed in a ziplock bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, shipped in a box.
