Creepy
This book disturbed me as a child and still does as an adult. It is rather depressing. I don't think many young adults will like it. There is also a heavy plot involving the sick mother. The house keeper tells Ned its his fault his mother is going today. The addition of guilt involving the cat missing the eye makes the boy a dark lead. There are no up beat sections, which just makes this whole story too disturbing to be enjoyable.
