Bob Wilber's Bechet Legacy group (which was most active in the early 1980's) successfully paid tribute to Wilber's early teacher Sidney Bechet. Wilber (on soprano and clarinet) brings back Bechet's spirit on this frequently exciting Lp without copying the master. Trumpeter Glenn Zottola is a key member of the sextet and Pug Horton takes a few worthy vocals. Highpoints of the date include "Lady Be Good," "Polka Dot Stomp," "Egyptian Fantasy," "Santa Claus Blues" and "Danse Le Rue D'Antibes." ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
