This is a thoughtful, contemporary rendition by a travel Master of modern Mexico that includes its political economy and the US's role in that economy with analysis that stem's from Theroux's own probing. By using his car and a departure by road as an instrument and interviewing various Mexicans beginning with migrants and real people, it will not leave you disappointed. Also so valuable is the integration of longtime unphased analysts of Mexico, the ones you don't see in the media.
