I bought this book because it was recommended by another quilter as having an extensive collection of old quilt patterns. It was published around 1930, so the outlook of the author was considerably different from today's outlook on quilting. It has been a fascinating (and sometimes annoying) read and the patterns are terrific. The author is very biased against "new" uses of old patterns -- she'd be horrified at today's quilting world. My husband even picked it up to read and found it just as fascinating for the historical view of quilting and quilters. Anyone who enjoys quilting and its history will find this book a gem, even if he or she doesn't agree with the opinions of the author.
