The arrangement of these gadgets is very exact. These objects move with a deliberate rough elegance, emanating sounds, sending out pictures and grabbing attention. Each object has a series of detailed drawings which explains the mechanisms and their final form. Shin Egashira graduated from the Architectural Association in 1990 and is presently a Unit Master in the Intermediate School. He had exhibited widely in both Britain and Japan and was Artist-in-Residence at the Camden Arts Centre in 1991. His work has most recently appeared at the Venice Biennale and this exhibition will tour to the Mars Gallery, Tokyo.
