Provides a standardized language nurses can use to describe nursing actions and communicate the function of nursing. Promotes the development of decision-making skills in students. Can be used to determine health care information systems needs or costs of service nurses can provide for the creation of a reimbursement system for nursing. Demonstrates the impact nurses have on the health care system. Contains interventions applicable to all health care settings, including medical-surgery nursing, critical care, emergency, pediatrics, geriatrics, community, and home health. Features 58 new interventions, with 98 revised and updated, for a total of 491 nursing interventions.
