Season 3 begins with a two-part story focusing on a 30-year-old Texas schoolteacher and her 17-year-old lover, who embark on a cross-country crime spree that culminates in Los Angeles. Assisting Don (Rob Morrow) and Charlie (David Krumholtz) on the case is agent Ian Edgerton (Lou Diamond Phillips). When the teen is arrested, his disturbed companion kidnaps Megan (Diane Farr) and offers her in exchange for the jailed young man. The incident leads to an intensifying of the relationship between Larry (Peter MacNicol) and Megan. But then Larry makes a surprising announcement: He is joining NASA on an upcoming space mission. His impending departure isn't the only unsettling news for Charlie at CalSci. Charlie gets a new department boss, Dr. Mildred Finch (Kathy Najimy), who disapproves of his FBI work and his dating Amita (Navi Rawat). To further complicate matters, Mildred starts dating Charlie's dad (Judd Hirsch). As for Don, sparks fly when he rekindles a relationship with former flame agent Liz Warner (Aya Sumika) when she is reassigned to the L.A. office. Don is also ordered to see a psychologist because of his involvement in several recent shootings, and he begins to question his career choice. Colby (Dylan Bruno) comes under suspicion by some of his colleagues when he appears to be acting against orders. Interesting Season 6 cases include: the death of a martial-arts fighter in the ring and the chief suspect has ties to David (Alimi Ballard); the theft of a $22 million Pissarro painting that was once Nazi-looted art and may belong to a Holocaust survivor (Gena Rowlands); the murder of a man who picked 30 winners in a row at a horse-racing track; the kidnapping of a record-company owner's son; a possible terrorist attack in which L.A.'s water supply is endangered; and the surfacing of the Janus list, which contains the names of spies and double agents.
