This work gives a detailed and fascinating insight into the region's culture, including its glittering contribution of Monet, Corneille and Gide: offers fresh commentary on the region's most famous landmarks: Mont-St-Michel, the Bayeux Tapestry and the historic high-rise port at Honfleur; is moved by the beaches of the D-Day landings; and recommends the best places to try Normandy's fine cuisine: its famous cheeses, lsigny butter, excellent seafood and France's most densely flavoured brandy, the famous Calvados.
