The Rainbow Bridge
Zane Grey's first trip to Nonnezoshe was only the second by a non-scientific expedition. Something for which he was very proud. To reach this magnificent structure then took several days of grueling travel by horseback. Today all one has to do is get in a boat and travel up Lake Powell, a two hour ride. What this trip did for Zane Grey was inspire his to write about the "west" and the people it took to occupy and subdue the land. Without such he would not have written what he did. It first appeared in Recreation Magazine in 1915. This story can also be found in the book Tales of Lonely Trails in hardback, or Volume 1 in paper. It can also be found in an unexpurgated version in Range River, Five Star Western, 2001. A wonderful, exciting adventure one can take right along with Zane Grey.
