The phrase ?hooked from page one? always seems overused to me, but is definitely the perfect way to describe this book. The characters are realistic and relatable, drawing the reader in and creating the sense of actually being in the protagonist?s shoes. No Safety in Numbers had me staying up till the wee hours of the morning to finish; I just couldn?t go to bed without knowing how the story ended. When I finally reached the last page, I was extremely frustrated to know that I didn?t have the next book!
The change of narrator from chapter to chapter effectively tells the story by showing the reader the same situation from the eyes of several different people. I love the growth from a slightly anxious calm to extreme panic! Lorentz successfully captures the very essence of human nature, weaving an eerie and exciting tale that makes you shiver at the thought of how easily it could be reality.
Five stars aren?t enough to describe how awesome this novel is ? five hundred would be more adequate!
