From one to ten I give a 10 to this book titled "The New Encyclopedia of the Cat" by Dr Bruce Fogle who is an expert in the veterinary field and reknowned for his studies in animal behavior. And I give very rarely a 10 to anything. But this large, 288 pg book gives so much information to anyone interested in cats, and even those who are just interested in animals in general can find a lot of useful facts. It covers the history of the cat as well as the anatomy. Then there's all the breed information and all this accompanied by beautiful, sharp pictures often including portraits and close-ups done by professional photographers of even the newest breeds. As a cat lover I thought I knew quite a bit about cat breeds, but this book has infinitely more details than I ever thought possible about varieties and colors. Also the quality of the heavy but not too glossy, easy-on-the-eyes paper makes it a joy to read. I highly recommend this book for its beautiful, professional pictures as well as for the information about the ancestors of the cat, the feline design, behavior ,care and the stunning pictures.
