The book is well edited by Robert Keohane and is a must read for International Relations majors and graduate students. Cox and Ashley display their thought from the early stages of critical theory development. I would highly recommend the book for those taking courses that are based on classical realism and seem to have flushed Neo-realism down the memory hole. Kenneth Waltz and Robert Gilpin are very important for international relations development for the 21st century. See Mearsheimer (The Tragedy of Great Power Politics) an outline of offensive realism, because it looks a lot like the Bush administration and Neo-conservative thought post 9/11.
