This volume of Advances of Neurology came to my attention as I was writing a chapter on the pathology of epilepsy in surgical neuropathology specimens. There are several useful reviews of the anatomical abnormalities associated with chronic epilepsy, but these are mostly based on MRI and other imaging modalities without as much pathological correlation as I had hoped for from descriptions of the book. For a non-neurologist, however, other chapters reviewing clinical syndromes, imaging correlates, current treatment, etc were all valuable.
