This is the story of that week, a delicious idyll in which he escorted a Monroe desperate to escape from the pressures of stardom. A cracking good read and Colin Clark writes well. He is a shrewd character and was clearly born well and with a sense of entitlement; this can seem patronising at times. He clearly got the job through patronage but it's a long time ago but autre temps/autre modes; the quality of his writing redeems these niggles. Very enjoyable.
