This book gi ves good insight into Clarence Thomas' very rational thinking. He seems to have been able to rise above all sorts of discrimation - racial, religious and educational. He made some excellent points regarding affirmative action and the reprecussions that I think ought to be better publicized. Very good book.

One of the Best Books I Have Read All Year
This is a story of more than getting to the top with hard work and determination. It is a story of love and hate, regret and resolve, bigotry and race conciliation. I was awed and shocked; I cried and laughed. I became angry with injustices and sad at how things occurred in Clarence Thomas' life. I was moved and that makes a memoir memorable. I was pleasantly surprised by all the things that Clarence Thomas brought out in the open. He took his readers on a journey; it was a captivating journey...far from boring. Thomas is great writer who should write more. This was a great read.

interesting but left me wanting more
I found the early part of his life, the parts that shaped his character, very interesting and informative. They gave some insight into why he is as he is. I found the university, career and personal sections lacking in detail that he should have been able to easily provide. It would have made for much fuller and richer reading material.

Riveting Biography
Excelllent book that I read in 2 nights. Could not put it down, my husband did the same thing. Time to pass this one to others. His boyhood, college days & the mistakes he made are all there. Unvarnished and strong , exposes the reality of our political system their prejudices and just plain meanness. Would pass this book to anyone that loves biographies. It should be a best seller in no time!
