Buying property in France seems to be a popular theme with Australian writers these days, and the Archer book does not disappoint in any way as she takes us through the restoration of her country mas. She adapts to French traditions in restoring the mas and introduces us to their customs and artisans as the work progresses all the while making it seem that she melded effortlessly into the French culture. The book is sectioned into the four seasons of the year, each season describing a new aspect of living in France. She makes new friends, tends to her olive trees, shares recipes and takes side trips to Paris and the south of France. She nicely shares in her Index the names and addresses of her favorite stores, restaurants and music if anyone wants to follow in her footsteps. The phographs are beautiful and I liked her sophisticated slant to her story. It is a nice book to have on hand in the guest room. The book arrived in good condition.
