Clean green cloth boards with gold lettering on spine. No fraying or wear; binding is tight and square, pages and edges are clean. Clean blank endpapers-no names, writing or marks. Fold-out map at rear of book. 263 pages. Dust jacket is clean, not price clipped, has small chips at top spine edge. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Professor L. P. Jacks first went to the United States in 1885 as a post graduate to Harvard University. Six other visits followed--in 1907 (no longer as a student), in 1909, 1910, 1912, 1913, and finally in 1929, when he made an extended tour under the auspices of the American Association for Adult Education. His eighth visit, which forms the subject matter of this book, took Professor Jacks into forty-two states over a period of nine months (1931-1932). The fold-out map shows the reader the area over which he travelled, and the cities he visited.
