The group has essayed few crossover pieces, instead focusing on transcriptions for brass ensemble of works in other media. Here the group focuses on British choral and string orchestra music of the 20th century, giving spotless performances. The transcriptions are by the group's founder and trumpeter, Simon Cox, and a septet is quite a different animal from the usual quintet, allowing considerably more detail in the arrangements and giving more of an orchestral feel. This is apparent here in a work like the closing Sonata for string orchestra of William Walton, where very little gets lost in translation.
