I can relate to Nick as in 1982, I was he! A part time wanna-be racer from nearby to where I live, although not as the journalist I am now, I drove a bread van and worked in a pub to earn my living! Scratching round the country lanes, scrambling at Carlton Bank and racing at places like Croft and Oulton Park. I know Russ Armstrong well, likewise Dave Woolams, Geoff Towers and to a lesser extent, Alan Stewart, who are all named, much to my surprise! As for Murtyl, she was one hell of a woman! I pictured contrasting images of her as the story unfolded, from a sex siren to a tomboy and all bits in between, I hope that was the intention! And the sacrifices, not to mention the bravery, that the SOE and other Allied forces had to endure, the risks, the sheer hell of it all, it was compelling reading."
