I am told that Mrs. Truman was reknowed for her singing and piano skills. I'm also told those who regaled her the most wanted political favors. Well, the Trumans aren't a force inside the Beltway anymore, and I don't need any favors.
This book is a piece of dreck written by a hack. (There are rumors the "Murder in" series was ghost written. If so, I apologize to Mrs. Truman).
I grew up in the Glover Park area of Washington, a mile north of M Street in Georgetown, so I thought this book might be fun, if anything for the local flavor. I got the impression the flavor was derived from a quick limousine ride down Wisconsin Avenue. Quite frequently I found myself wondering if Mrs. Truman had even been to some of her proposed locations.
To compound things, we have barely two dimensional characters and a plotline about as plausible as winning Power Ball.
Maybe I'm being overly critical, but it just didn't work for me.
After reading this and talking to other Washingtonians, I can't recommend this book.
