Colli's letter argues that he has to approach Mozart from a perspective informed by the revolutions brought after his lifetime by Beethoven and other composers, and of course, there are plenty of highly Romantic interpretations of Mozart. This is all well and good, but in the first half of the program, up to the Rondo in D major, K. 485, and the Piano Sonata in B flat major, K. 333, Colli is playing Mozart not from the perspective of Beethoven but from that of, perhaps, Busoni, or even Luciano Berio, with massive distortions of the transmitted musical texts.
