The chief attraction is the exceptionally seamless and lustrous sound of the Orchestre d'Auvergne under Jean-Jacques Kantorow, then at a maximally charismatic stage of his career. These concertos benefit from a light, ingratiating approach, and the listener to this disc will be enveloped by sweet sounds indeed. Flutist Alain Marion is on top of the agile leaps required by the figuration in the outer movements of the concertos, and he shapes Mozart's melodic lines in detailed and intelligent ways.
