Very good. Die "Mosella", das große Moselgedicht, zählt zu den wenigen Werken antiker Literatur, die auf deutschem Boden entstanden sind. Ausonius, der Rhetorikprofessor aus Aquitanien, hat in diesen knapp 500 Hexametern die Mosellandschaft besungen. Das Gedicht enstand im Jahre 371 in Trier, der damaligen römischen Residenz, wo Ausonius in kaiserlichen Diensten war. Das Werk wurde schnell ein Bucherfolg. Nach mehr als achtzig Jahren wird in dieser Ausgabe neben dem lateinischen Text erstmals wieder eine hexametrische Übersetzung gestellt, ergänzt durch Erläuterungen zum lateinischen Text und Anmerkungen zur Übersetzung. Dadurch soll neben Sprache und Inhalt vor allem die dichterische Sprachkunst besser erschlossen werden.
