Seller's Description:
NF but for a small bump to lower outer back corner. Color-illus. wraps with white lettering on black spine. French flaps. 383 pp. with color and bw images throughout. Text in English. Catalogue published on the occasion of the 5th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, September to October 2013 in Moscow. This particular edition published by MER, Paper Kunsthalle, Ghent. Includes a preface, welcome address, foreword, the title essay by Catherine de Zegher, a conversation with Zegher and others, the plates, a series of essays by 6 different authors, texts of the artists, artist biographies, a bibliography, the list of works, and the film screening program. Works by 72 international artists. The open-ended title of the Fifth Moscow Biennale, «More Light», allows for a diversity of interpretations-a diversity apparent in the selection of projects from artists around the globe. While being a critical reflection on different structures of space-time-both in the context of economic overproduction, ecological disasters, and harmful technologies-the exhibition considers light not only as basic to the visual arts but also as a creative force generated between us, when there is space and time for slow and intense attention. The entire project suggests that this engagement as well as relation are required for the development of new thinking.
