Would I recommend "The Mona Intercept"? Yes, but with reservations, caveats, howevers.
This is one of Hamilton's non-Matt Helm novels, and I don't think it's his best work.
He tries to tell too much about too many characters, too much about their inner feelings and thoughts. There is also a bit too much description, too many scenes with too much scene-setting. It's as though he decided to write an "epic", maybe even "sprawling" story, ready for the Silver Screen, although after the travesties that were the Matt Helm movies, it seems like he would avoid Hollywood forever and ever.
Maybe he wrote "The Mona Intercept" to prove to somebody-or-other that he could do something besides Matt Helm.
